Luck vs Talent: Why Billionaires are successful

Whether you an entrepreneur starting a business or a veteran in your industry, you can’t deny that luck has some influence on your success. Sure! resilience, hard work, and talent does play a significant role in success but as Google billionaire Eric Schmidt puts it; there’s another that can’t be left off the list….. Luck! Looking on as the world contends with the Covid-19 epidemic, It’s inevitable that most people will be looking towards the future for answers. Hard work will suffice to say be an important element in rebuilding the economy. But, there will only be a few very fortunate businesses and people who will rise to the top. My interest in the topic is to identify what will make these people or businesses luckier than most. But, also to what extent do the perceptions of luck discourage people from becoming entrepreneurs. What is Kaizen?

Kaizen is the Sino-Japanese word for "constant improvement". According to the Kaizen Institute, an organisation which has embraced the concept is constantly striving to improve its processes, promotes discipline and standardisation, and believes the processes in place for solving problems are more valuable than the solutions themselves

Kaizen is a mindset, those who strive to live it each day are the people who are making a difference in people's lives. The concept referrers to continuously improving all functions of a business and evolves all employees, including management. By embracing the skills of the whole organization and understanding that the smallest improvements will create a greater value over time.

Tony Robbins in his book 'Awaken the Giant Within', realised that we all need a word to encode meaning and create a way of thinking. Words consistency make up the fabric of what we think and even affect the decisions we make. Mr Robbins created the mnemonic "CAN!™", which he refers to as a true discipline that must be a consistent commitment backed by action.

The purpose of this blog is an experiment I began to develop an improvement mindset in my business. Using real estate as a vessel through which I translate by experiences and lessons I have learnt, I will document my own commitment to consistently improve and to consistently raise my standards. I hope, in return, to inspire those who read this blog to implement the same philosophy of Kaizen in their own lives.
